What the licence actually lets me do
C-29 masonry means I can repair the structure , crowns, brick, mortar, tuckpointing. That is why I can work on the structure of your chimney and not just sweep it. If a job needs gas piping or HVAC work, I will say so rather than stretch a masonry licence to cover something it does not. You can have a licensed tech diagnose it properly and tell you straight whether it sits inside the licence or needs a different trade.

When you do not need to call
Not every chimney needs a service call every year. If you burn four or five fires a winter with dry, seasoned wood, a year of buildup usually is not worth the $199 cleaning. The $59 inspection alone tells you that honestly, during the visit. I would rather give you that answer than an invoice. The foothill exception is real, though. Daily wood heat through a Sacramento Valley winter builds buildup fast. That is the one situation where I will tell you to book the cleaning without waiting on the inspection to talk you into it. Everyone else, get looked at first. It costs $59 and it might cost you nothing more than that.
No tenure claims, no vague certifications
The site used to say 20-plus years of experience. That claim came off because the business dates from 2024. The licence dates from 2026.
